Job Description

The Resident Operational Engineer will manage and coordinate daily, weekly and monthly activities to maintain, operate and support E80 systems and equipment at dedicated customer plants, balancing hands-on work with team supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer service aspects, including asset and system performance, ticket resolution, spare parts inventory management, and overall service delivery, ensuring timely communication with customers and E80 back-office teams.
  • Organize and manage periodic technology update sessions to inform and train customer personnel and managers on E80's latest technologies, solutions and products.
  • Participate in periodic operational and management meetings with the customer’s staff.
  • Prepare and share quotes for parts and interventions; request purchase orders to enable the E80 team to handle requests properly.
  • Allocate technical resources, verify equipment and tools as needed, and manage materials for various field services activities and projects based on requirements and resource availability.
  • Develop and maintain resource schedules for maintenance, field service, and retrofit activities, ticket resolutions, ensuring optimal utilization of resources; liaise with CSAM, supervisors, resident engineers, spare parts representatives, service coordinators, technical supervisors, technicians, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of services.
  • Order spare parts when possible and follow up with spare part representatives on delivery and prioritization.
  • Enter and manage tickets in Salesforce.
  • Manage and coordinate onsite resource interventions based on scheduled activities for maintenance and ticket resolution of technical aspects.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of allocated resources, identifying issues or inefficiencies and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Continuously review and improve resource allocation processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Ensure all maintenance, field service, and retrofit activities comply with relevant regulations, standards, and company policies.
  • Observe customer behavior and identify opportunities for alternative service purchases to drive improvements in E80 operations.
  • Escalate important customer aspects to the organization as needed.
  • Ensure safety precautions for the operation of E80 systems and escalate discrepancies to stakeholders and management.
  • Perform advanced electrical troubleshooting on E80 machines using available diagnostic tools when required.
  • Replace, program and configure E80 electromechanical components when necessary.
  • Perform periodic engineering and software maintenance tasks as required (examples: LGV/navigation parameter calibration and adjustments).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations management, or a related field preferred; alternative equivalent experience in maintenance management within material handling and industrial machine design/manufacturing industries will be considered.
  • 3+ years of experience in material handling, packaging equipment, robotics, and palletizing industries, with emphasis on customer service, project management, and asset management; familiarity with industrial equipment design, manufacturing, and maintenance processes is highly preferred.
  • Strong technical background with understanding and hands-on experience across all technical aspects of an E80 automation system (PLC, PC, LGV, EM).
  • CMRT certifications highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of SAP ERP system and Salesforce CRM.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and Power Platform.
  • Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration abilities; able to drive change and coordinate across teams.
  • Customer service orientation with a client-centric mindset.
