Job Description

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP is seeking an experienced Roadway Engineer to support transportation planning and design work from its Raleigh, NC office. This onsite role focuses on roadway project development, alignment design, and preparation of construction and technical deliverables for a multi-disciplinary engineering team.

In this position, you will contribute to roadway engineering efforts that support project planning through design output, including horizontal and vertical alignment, roadway plan and profile work, and related roadside evaluation elements. You will also help prepare construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports tied to transportation projects.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a team of engineers on the planning and design of transportation projects in ND.
  • Lead the design of horizontal and vertical alignments.
  • Develop roadway plans and profiles.
  • Perform roadside evaluation elements.
  • Maintain traffic design.
  • Prepare construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and the development of technical reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 5-10 years of experience in roadway engineering (candidates with significant relevant experience but fewer years may be considered).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina preferred.
  • Proficiency with design software including MicroStation and OpenRoads.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills across organizational levels.
  • Ability to work independently and also collaborate with multi-office teams.
  • Ability to lead and manage multiple projects, assignments, and teams.
  • Positive, cooperative attitude as both a team leader and team player.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
