Senior Civil Engineer
Job Description
Granite Engineering, LLC, a civil engineering firm based in Manchester, New Hampshire, is seeking a senior professional to lead site civil design, land development, and municipal services initiatives. This full-time role blends on-site collaboration with hybrid remote work, empowering a seasoned engineer to guide project teams, interact with clients, and navigate municipal processes from concept through construction.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the workload and scheduling of project engineers to maintain efficiency and quality.
- Mentor and answer technical questions for project engineers to foster growth and accuracy.
- Apply computer aided drafting and design skills using AutoCAD to support project development.
- Develop engineering assignments and designs for simple to moderately complex land development projects.
- Conduct site civil evaluations and designs, including site selection and feasibility studies based on engineering parameters.
- Prepare conceptual layouts of site engineering systems and assess site grading and earthwork balancing.
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for stormwater management, wetland design or preservation, and determining flood water elevations.
- Design and evaluate roadways, streets, sidewalks, driveways, parking areas, and other vehicular connections.
- Plan and coordinate site utility infrastructure, including storm drains, culverts, pipelines, drainage improvements, sanitary sewers, water mains, utility duct banks, and service coordination.
- Visit project sites and participate in meetings with clients and agencies to advance project approvals.
- Present project concepts and details at municipal board meetings as required.
- Review permit applications for site design and construction approvals, ensuring compliance with requirements.
- Assess construction documents, including quantity and cost estimates, plans, specifications, and contractor submittals.
- Remain knowledgeable about local, state, and federal land use requirements to confirm project compliance.
- Reference and utilize appropriate materials and resources to support design decisions.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support project delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- Professional licensure is required.
- Minimum of 10 years of related civil site engineering and permitting experience in New Hampshire.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and HydroCAD software.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to work in a timely manner and multi-task under tight deadlines.
- Ability to contribute to and participate in a collaborative team environment.
