Job Description

eTeam Inc is seeking a Senior Control Engineer to support the engineering, programming, and lifecycle support of automated industrial control systems at a manufacturing facility working with highly hazardous chemicals. The role is based onsite in Portland, PA and Mount Bethel, PA on a contract basis and includes responsibility for independent execution across design, installation, startup, and troubleshooting.

This position requires deep process automation competency for chemical plants, including PLC/DCS/SCADA work and safety-focused engineering activities related to loops, interlocks, and safety documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Model and reinforce a daily safety and quality mindset: Do It Safe, Do It Right the First Time.
  • Develop, implement, and support plant control system hardware, software, and field instrumentation in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Troubleshoot control system hardware and software and apply corrective actions independently.
  • Participate in Design Reviews and PHAs.
  • Configure and program PLC, DCS, and SCADA control systems.
  • Work at a manufacturing facility handling highly hazardous chemicals.
  • Establish engineering design basis and support design documentation for both new and existing facilities, including items such as PFDs, PIDs, equipment and instrument specification sheets, process packages, MOC, interlock matrix, and functional design specifications.
  • Assist with loop tests and interlock tests for new processes and for yearly ISO testing for calibration and interlock checks.
  • Complete all assigned training and tasks.
  • Apply deep knowledge of electrical distribution and power loading in industrial control systems.
  • Support new process startup, with shift work potentially required.
  • Provide on-call coverage for nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering (or equivalent).
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, including programming PLC/DCS for chemical plant design and operation, plus process data collection and distribution for broader corporate use.
  • Knowledge and experience in instrument engineering.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards for process control hardware and software (for example, UL listing, NEC) as applied to hazardous materials handling and manufacture.
  • Experience with Siemens PCS 7 DCS hardware and software.
  • Experience with Siemens TIA Portal software.
  • Experience with Rockwell CompactLogix, Rockwell ControlLogix, and Rockwell PanelView Plus.
  • Experience with Rockwell Studio5000, LogixDesigner5000, FactoryTalk View SE and FactoryTalk View ME, and FactoryTalk Historian.
  • Ability to develop and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Experience developing and deploying Ethernet-based industrial networks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with GE Proficy HMI.
  • Experience in a rapid-growth environment.
  • Training in standard procedures for safe gas and chemical handling.
  • Chemical plant operation experience (strongly preferred).
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Team player with leadership abilities.
  • Self-starter who can perform well under pressure and continuously changing priorities, with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Compensation: USD 75-85 per hour.

Experience: 10+ years. Education: Bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering (or equivalent).
