Senior Developer Experience Engineer
Job Description
The Senior Developer Experience Engineer at Jack Henry, based in Birmingham, AL with remote flexibility, leads the developer documentation platform as a product. This role benchmarks developer experience, delivering interactive and accessible documentation while collaborating with engineers, SDK teams, and product partners to shape strategy and content initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and continuously improve the Developer Relations Portal in line with engineering standards and best practices.
- Steer feature design, planning, and delivery, translating work into clear, actionable tasks for the team.
- Embed reliability, scalability, performance, and quality into every development initiative.
- Act as the team’s technical representative in discussions and decision-making sessions such as discovery.
- Diagnose and resolve issues spanning CI/CD pipelines and production systems.
- Hold end-to-end ownership of the documentation platform, covering architecture, UX, and roadmap, benchmarked to industry norms.
- Create interactive, accessible documentation experiences, including code samples, API explorers, tutorials, and video content.
- Develop templates, tooling, and contribution guides to enable scalable documentation across squads.
- Publish high-impact developer resources such as guides, tutorials, and video walkthroughs.
- Oversee the documentation infrastructure, including site generation, CI/CD, previews, search, and analytics.
- Leverage AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code and Cursor to speed development and documentation workflows.
- Define and sustain documentation processes, including style guidelines, contribution workflows, review criteria, and audit practices.
Requirements
- At least six years of experience in documentation, developer experience, or developer education for a developer audience.
- Proven ability to organize and structure complex technical content via information architecture and content modeling.
- Experience improving developer documentation for usability, clarity, and navigability.
- Hands-on use of AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, and GitHub Copilot in daily workflows.
- Experience creating both written documentation and video or screencast content for technical audiences.

- Strategic and audit thinking: experience benchmarking documentation, identifying systemic gaps, and delivering actionable roadmaps.
- Familiarity with OpenAPI specifications or interactive API documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
- Previous experience developing technical documentation for engineers or developers.
- Proficiency with Web Components.
- Familiarity with Polymer or Lit.
- Solid understanding of security, API design, design patterns, and browser environments.
- Experience with front-end build systems such as webpack or rollup.
- Experience with CI/CD systems.
- Experience tracing a request through the network stack.
- Experience with SSOs, plugins, or APIs.
- Experience implementing OAuth2/OpenID Connect.
- Experience supporting an application in production.
