Job Description

The Senior Developer Experience Engineer at Jack Henry, based in Birmingham, AL with remote flexibility, leads the developer documentation platform as a product. This role benchmarks developer experience, delivering interactive and accessible documentation while collaborating with engineers, SDK teams, and product partners to shape strategy and content initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and continuously improve the Developer Relations Portal in line with engineering standards and best practices.
  • Steer feature design, planning, and delivery, translating work into clear, actionable tasks for the team.
  • Embed reliability, scalability, performance, and quality into every development initiative.
  • Act as the team’s technical representative in discussions and decision-making sessions such as discovery.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues spanning CI/CD pipelines and production systems.
  • Hold end-to-end ownership of the documentation platform, covering architecture, UX, and roadmap, benchmarked to industry norms.
  • Create interactive, accessible documentation experiences, including code samples, API explorers, tutorials, and video content.
  • Develop templates, tooling, and contribution guides to enable scalable documentation across squads.
  • Publish high-impact developer resources such as guides, tutorials, and video walkthroughs.
  • Oversee the documentation infrastructure, including site generation, CI/CD, previews, search, and analytics.
  • Leverage AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code and Cursor to speed development and documentation workflows.
  • Define and sustain documentation processes, including style guidelines, contribution workflows, review criteria, and audit practices.

Requirements

  • At least six years of experience in documentation, developer experience, or developer education for a developer audience.
  • Proven ability to organize and structure complex technical content via information architecture and content modeling.
  • Experience improving developer documentation for usability, clarity, and navigability.
