Senior Electrical Design Engineer
Job Description
Senior Electrical Design Engineer at ESI Motion in Simi Valley, CA (onsite) responsible for leading development, design, system integration and maintenance of embedded hardware platforms for Space Orbital missions, Lunar missions, aerospace and defense projects, with a sign-on bonus eligibility of up to $20,000 based on experience and role requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead cross functional teams in product definition, materials selection, architectural decisions and design reviews
- Recommend and implement robust hardware solutions and improved engineering practices
- Develop and maintain microcontroller based digital and analog electronics following established methodologies
- Interface with customers to elicit and define requirements
- Guide engineering, packaging and PCB layout activities
- Lead discussions on hardware requirements, design feasibility and scheduling considerations
- Collaborate with teammates to develop complete hardware and software systems
- Own end-to-end product development from definition through qualification with high independence
- Apply scientific analysis and mathematical modeling to formulate product designs
- Produce engineering documentation including specifications, schematics, layouts, BOMs and qualification reports
- Lead development and testing of PC graphical user interfaces
- Adhere to programming guidelines and utilize version control systems
- Document test plans, compile results, and design test stand equipment
- Coordinate hardware releases, version upgrades and custom interfaces within QA practices
- Create and review design and product information such as manuals and brochures for accuracy
- Consult with other engineering staff to evaluate hardware/software interfaces and system performance requirements
- Plan, manage and execute multiple activities while ensuring quality, budget and schedule milestones
- Mentor other team members and foster technical development
- Apply advanced electrical and software engineering concepts to complex problems
- Advance design, analysis and testing of MCU based digital and analog electronics
- Leverage PSpice simulations to validate designs
- Contribute to embedded systems software design and implementation
- Work with IGBTs, MOSFETs, power drivers and current sensors
- Develop motor control systems and related hardware interfaces
- Oversee release management, document control and application lifecycle management
- Handle analog and digital circuit design, including A/D and D/A conversion
- Utilize ORCAD for schematics and collaborate on FPGA and high speed signal processing efforts
- Engage in DSP, control systems and digital filtering activities
- Apply knowledge of TCP/IP, with C/C++ being a plus
- Leverage sensorless motor control knowledge where applicable
- Value project management methodologies and military standards where relevant
- Foster collaboration across engineering disciplines to meet system-level goals

- 10+ years of recent embedded hardware development experience

Compensation and Location
Salary: USD 160,000 - 175,000 per year. Location: Simi Valley, CA (onsite). Sign-on bonus: up to USD 20,000 based on experience and role requirements.
