Job Description
Role Overview
The Senior Electrical Design Engineer will develop low-noise, mixed-signal circuits and systems for high performance sonar equipment. This position collaborates with fellow engineers to define the architectural approach for sonar product platforms and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering peers to define and refine the overall architecture for sonar product platforms and systems.
- Lead critical analog design elements, including low-noise analog front ends, signal acquisition, signal integrity, and proper system grounding.
- Design and integrate transmit amplifiers using new and existing projector and receive transducer designs, along with the associated power systems.
- Coordinate with board layout and mechanical engineering teams to develop PCBs and integrated electronic packages; collaborate with transducer engineers to merge electromechanical designs with electronics.
- Oversee board and system bring-up activities to verify product functionality in collaboration with other engineers.
- Participate in at sea testing of sonar systems.
- Develop system and board level test plans and procedures to ensure the product meets electrical and engineering specifications, and use these procedures to support manufacturing transfers.
- Support manufacturing in turnkey production and in-house testing of assembled PCBs and larger electronic subassemblies.
- Interface with colleagues across the engineering organization on engineering change orders, new product transfers, and BOM structure and data entry.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering; Master of Science in Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Ten or more years of hands-on analog design experience with expertise in low-noise techniques for circuit design and PCB layout.
- Proven experience in integrating, testing, and verifying complex systems; sonar or radar experience is highly desirable.
- Proficient with tools including analog simulation and schematic capture, as well as test and measurement equipment.
- Self-motivated team player who shares knowledge, learns from others, and supports other groups within the organization.
- Some limited travel is required.
Compensation and Benefits
