Role overview

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer in St. Louis, MO, onsite, with 10 or more years of experience. The role leads electrical design for industrial plants, covering power distribution, controls and automation, and involves cross‑functional leadership and travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

  • Stay current with the latest U.S. electrical codes and safety requirements, including NEC and IEEE standards.
  • Design and manage electric power distribution, grounding, and operation of low and medium voltage systems in heavy process industries.
  • Oversee power transmission, the full electrical product cycle, and power control and protection systems.
  • Set up GE Multilink Protective Relays or equivalent for medium voltage feeders, transformers, and motor protection.
  • Maintain electrical systems and enforce safety guidelines related to industrial plant power distribution.
  • Work with AutoCAD, Revit and SKM Power Tools to develop and document designs.
  • Design and integrate industrial control and automation systems, including electrical power distribution, MCCs, controls, and instrumentation.
  • Develop power and control schematics, hardware specifications, and control panel designs; configure electronic devices, programs for PLCs, and HMI.
  • Prepare equipment specifications, cable lists, and I/O lists; develop functional descriptions, load lists, one-line diagrams, device locations, grounding, and lighting plans.
  • Prepare Electrical Design Criteria for projects; participate in kickoff meetings and assist with proposals and CAPEX for electrical/controls work.
  • Maintain and update project deliverables and knowledge databases; contribute to near and long term department planning and personnel development.
  • Travel to construction sites to assist with systems commissioning.

Requirements

  • Expertise in industrial plant power, controls, and automation systems with a focus on electrical design and execution.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities to coordinate with staff, clients, and contractors.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • People management experience, including coaching, mentoring, and semi-annual staff evaluations.
  • Commitment to maintaining the company’s professional image and delivering accurate, error-free work.
  • Willingness to travel within the United States and occasionally overseas.
  • Familiarity with NEC and IEEE standards, power distribution and grounding, and operation of low and medium voltage systems in heavy industries.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and SKM Power Tools; proficiency in designing industrial control and automation systems.
  • Ability to develop electrical power distribution, MCCs, controls, and instrumentation; create schematics and hardware specifications; design control panels; configure PLCs and HMIs.
  • Ability to prepare equipment specifications, cable lists, I/O lists; develop functional descriptions, load lists, and one-line diagrams; plan grounding and lighting.
  • Experience preparing Electrical Design Criteria for projects; participate in kickoff meetings; assist with proposals and CAPEX for electrical/controls.
  • Maintain and update project deliverables and department knowledge resources; contribute to department planning and personnel development.
  • Travel to construction sites to support system commissioning.

Education and licensing

  • MS in Electrical Engineering preferred; or a B.S. in Electrical Engineering with relevant experience considered.
  • P.E. registration required; ability to obtain registrations across the USA.
