Senior Electrical Engineer

The Senior Electrical Engineer provides on-site electrical engineering support for government programs at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, TX, working with ASRC Federal Gulf State Constructors.

Responsibilities

• Assess electrical systems, components, and applications to inform project decisions within an engineering context.
• Review the United States Air Force Requirements and Optimization playbook to initiate projects and shape maintenance requirements.
• Inspect completed project work and equipment installations, capturing Real Property data as part of project closeout.
• Deliver timely electrical engineering expertise, including load calculations, generator sizing, and interior electrical design considerations.
• Interpret construction and engineering drawings and specifications to verify alignment with initial design intent and requirements.
• Define project scope, prepare specifications and studies, contribute to budgeting, and draft proposals; generate initial government cost estimates for small projects.
• Perform physical activities such as climbing around equipment, crawling, and outdoor work as part of field duties.
• Coordinate with mechanical, structural, and civil engineers during the design phase to ensure cohesive mechanical layouts.
• Collaborate with project design teams comprising architects, engineers, and the client’s technical staff.
• Provide technical support to programmers and cost estimators.
• Conduct technical reviews of MILCON, UMMC, facility projects, and architect-engineer plans and specifications.
• Perform root cause analyses on systems that fail prematurely or systematically.
• Assess AF Form 332 work requests for scope validity and practicality of in-house execution.
• Carry out other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 2 to 4 years of electrical engineering experience.
• Ability to identify common site architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection/detection system components and understand their operation.
• Experience planning or performing facility maintenance, improvements, or repairs.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Must hold a valid US driver’s license.
• Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks including lifting at least 50 pounds.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
• US citizenship or lawful permanent residency to meet contract requirements for work on a military installation.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC), requiring successful completion of a federal background investigation.
