Job Description
General Dynamics Mission Systems is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to support a cross-functional team building the next generation of embedded system security. This role is based in Bloomington, MN and requires U.S. citizenship along with an active Department of Defense Secret clearance (or higher).
Role Overview
As a senior staff software engineer, you will contribute to embedded development efforts focused on practical security solutions. The work is research oriented and carried out alongside award winning teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a senior staff software engineer on a cross-functional team responsible for the next generation of embedded system security.
- Contribute to research oriented work and practical solutions for national security needs.
- Support flexible scheduling using a 9/80 approach with every other Friday off, if desired.

Required Qualifications
- Education and experience: a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, or a related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus 8 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree plus 6 years of relevant experience.
- Security clearance: Department of Defense Secret clearance required at time of hire.
- Government investigation: applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
- Citizenship: due to the nature of work within company facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
- Possess a current Department of Defense security clearance of Secret or above.
Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of C in embedded environments, including bare bone software with memory map interfacing.
- Experience with communication buses including SPI/QSPI, UART, and I2C.
- JTAG for remote debug.
- Experience with PTP and networking concepts such as RSTP and VLAN.
- Knowledge of anti-tamper/security.
- Ability to apply technical standards and methodologies to solve challenges.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to secure buy-in on concepts and ideas.
- Collaboration and technical leadership, including positioning others for success.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development for yourself and others.
- Ability to identify opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation.
- Experience or knowledge in model-based systems engineering concepts, including MBSE and SysML.
- Knowledge of GitLab, including defining runners.
- Knowledge of code coverage and static code analysis tools: Parasoft / CppCheck.
- Familiarity with network protocol capabilities such as Auto Negotiation / Link Training.
- Experience developing against/within an FPGA, including platforms such as Polarfire, Versal, and Kintex Ultrascale.
- Experience with Magic Draw and related MBSE workflows, including software design as part of an MBSE initiative.

Estimated salary range: USD 149,831 - 159,000 per year. This estimate reflects typical salary ranges based on experience and other factors such as geographic location, and actual pay may vary.
