Senior Geotechnical Engineer
Job Description
Located in Middlebury, Connecticut, GEODesign, Inc. is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead its Connecticut office from an on-site base. This role blends senior leadership, technical expertise, and business development to guide geotechnical projects, including foundation design, subsurface explorations, rock and dam engineering, instrumentation, and value engineering. The position offers a salary range of USD 120,000 to 135,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Maintain high visibility in the market through regular client engagement, participation in client-centric professional organizations, and presenting at industry events.
- Provide project, office, and staff management with technical leadership, risk oversight, and mentorship.
- Prepare proposals, technical reports, and project budgets to support project delivery and client relations.
- Assist in recruiting and training staff to sustain team capability and growth.
Requirements
- B.S. degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or a related field (required).
- Master's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
- 10–20 years of professional geotechnical engineering experience.
- Significant project management experience, including proposal development and budgeting.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations affecting geotechnical work.
- Demonstrated or potential business development skills.
- Extensive engineering foundation with strong core principles of civil and geotechnical engineering.
- Strong interpersonal abilities and capacity to collaborate effectively with others.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a willingness to contribute to business development efforts to attract new work.
- Willingness and ability for short-term travel as needed.
- Willingness and ability to perform field tasks and provide on-site oversight.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
