Senior Mechanical Engineer responsible for leading design initiatives that decarbonize the building sector, with a hybrid Seattle office arrangement.

Lead mechanical design projects from kickoff through construction, collaborating across teams to deliver high‑quality, efficient, and cost‑effective solutions within client expectations, budgets, and timelines.
Design HVAC systems, including load Calculations, equipment and system selection, and layout development.
Coordinate mechanical designs with plumbing and electrical system work.
Prepare project drawings and specifications; develop design packages from Schematic Design to Construction Documents.
Present design options to project stakeholders.
Conduct Construction Administration tasks such as submittal reviews, RFI responses, site observations, and coordination with installing contractors.
Act as the primary contact for assigned projects and clients; lead coordination between external and internal teams and attend client meetings.
Perform Life Cycle Cost Analysis to inform payback for energy measures.
Survey existing buildings to identify opportunities for improvement.
Stay current with emerging technologies, evolving building codes, and green building standards.
Collaborate with Ecotope’s research department to demonstrate, monitor, and validate new technologies.
Apply and refine internal project management and quality control processes.
Ensure final internal QA/QC of reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
Mentor and develop junior staff through guidance and training.
Assist with business development and scoping of new projects.

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in engineering, science, or mathematics with 6+ years of experience, or a master’s degree with 5+ years of experience.
Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
Minimum of one year of project management experience.
Strong knowledge of building codes and green building rating systems (LEED, ESDS, LBC, etc).
Proficiency with AutoCAD 2D, Revit, Trane/Trace, Microsoft 365, Bluebeam Revu.
HVAC Mechanical Engineering experience: 6 years required.
Ability to commute to Seattle, WA 98101 (required).
