Job Description
Amazon Data Services, Inc. seeks a Senior Product Design Electrical Engineer to lead the design, development, and qualification of medium voltage electrical power distribution equipment for AWS data centers, guiding product development and coordinating with global suppliers.

- Salary: USD 136,600 - 184,800 per year
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal partner teams to collect customer input and establish design requirements guiding product development.
- Spearhead the design, development, and qualification of critical electrical power distribution equipment for AWS data centers, concentrating on medium voltage switchgear and transformers, and coordinating interfaces with low voltage switchgear and power distribution.
- Prepare capital and operating expenditure budgets that account for vendor development costs, prototyping, testing, and specialized tooling needs.
- Engage global suppliers and manufacturers to specify appropriate electrical equipment and components, ensuring resilience across tier 2 and tier 3 supply chains.
- Ensure compliance with UL, CSA, IEC and applicable federal, state and local building codes across multiple countries through appropriate testing.
- Validate designs via prototypes, pre-production runs, and first of kind builds, performing DFx and value engineering analyses at each stage and updating the design and documentation accordingly.
- Collaborate with field engineering and commissioning teams to test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical products.
- Provide manufacturing support for new products on concurrent projects across multiple geographic locations.
- Lead within the product development team and with internal and external teams that support data center operations.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
- Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
- Experience developing solutions and executing plans on complex projects
- Experience in industrial or commercial engineering for mission critical facilities including data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities
- Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities
