Senior RF Module Design/Development Engineer

Raytheon’s RF Microelectronics/Module Development & Foundry Services (RFMicro) team is seeking a Senior RF Module Design/Development Engineer to support the development of RF/microwave modules built with GaAs- and GaN-based MMIC products. This onsite role in Andover, MA focuses on RF power combining structures, transitions, and associated simulation and troubleshooting activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design RF structures and transitions across multi-layer, multi-channel RF Modules and analog circuitry to support both receive and transmit functionality.
• Perform 3D electromagnetic simulations for power combining and other RF structures.
• Troubleshoot RF Modules during prototyping and development.
• Collaborate across RF module design, MMIC design, and assembly teams.

Required Qualifications

• BS degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) field.
• Five (5) or more years of relevant experience in microwave/RF module, subsystem and component analysis, design, and test (an advanced STEM degree may count for three years of experience).
• Hands-on experience using electromagnetic simulation tools such as HFSS, ADS, and CST.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in a STEM field.
• Experience with module/sub-system assembly and packaging processes.
• Experience with thermal modeling and analysis.
• Experience with topology trade-offs, process and active/passive component selection, system/sub-system gain-loss analysis, and flowing down requirements from system to component level.
• Layout experience in Mentor Graphics’ Xpedition, Cadence Virtuoso, or AutoCAD.
• Experience using analytical tools such as Matlab, Python, or JMP.
• Understanding of allocating and flowing down requirements from the system to the component level.
• Experience working in a production environment.
• Experience with microwave testing techniques, including spectrum analyzers, Real-time Spectrum Analyzers (RSAs), Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs), and Performance Network Analyzer (PNAs).
• Experience with GaAs and/or GaN MMIC devices.
• Experience leading teams and/or projects.
• Current DoD Secret level security clearance.

Compensation

Salary range: USD 86,800 - 165,200 per year.
