Senior Software Engineer

Hybrid Senior Software Engineer position with BCubed Engineering (Auria) in Warrenton, VA, focusing on end-to-end software delivery, team leadership, and customer collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Independently drive software engineering tasks across the full development lifecycle, from design and modeling through implementation, testing, integration, and deployment.
• Maintain rigorous testing, repeatable development processes, thorough documentation of software design, and dependable delivery aligned to customer mission needs.
• Design and build software with the end user in mind, actively seeking user feedback to strengthen trusted partnerships.
• Lead and mentor as a Contributing Team Member, managing your workload, helping plan the team’s software tasks, and upholding delivery schedules; senior engineers mentor junior engineers and peers.
• Clearly communicate software concepts and architectural decisions to peers and non-technical audiences, and engage confidently with external partners; pursue innovative solutions and modern frameworks.

Requirements

• 5 to 10 years of proven systems engineering experience delivering high-consequence technical solutions.
• Degree in engineering or computer science from an accredited university, or equivalent knowledge gained through apprenticeship and professional work experience.
• Proven software engineering skills with a track record of solving problems across subsystems and small systems.
• Strong delivery focus with a commitment to producing production-ready software and guiding the final 10 percent to completion.
• Ability to manage your own workload and contribute independently, with transparent status updates on blockers or schedule impacts.
• History of integrity, accountability, and doing the right thing even when challenging.
• Active SECRET clearance; US citizenship is required.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or computer/software engineering.
• Python developer with depth in asynchronous programming (asyncio) and scripting; experience binding C++ to Python via pybind11 or Cython.
• Kubernetes specialist: Docker containerization, Kubernetes primitives (Pods, Deployments, StatefulSets), and experience writing custom K8s Operators or optimizing low-latency cloud infrastructure.
• Systems and DevOps background: Linux internals, distributed systems, CI/CD automation (ArgoCD, GitHub Actions), and observability tools (Prometheus/Grafana).

Pay Transparency

The offered salary will reflect the candidate's qualifications, skills, education, and experience, within the range of $110,000 to $150,000 per year.
