Senior Staff Software Engineer – F22
Job Description
Lockheed Martin Corporation seeks an accomplished software leader to guide the Stores Management System efforts for the F-22 program at the Fort Worth, TX site. This Senior Staff Engineer role centers on steering airborne software development within the Aeronautics division, with a focus on embedded C/C++ work and delivering robust, flight-critical solutions. You will shape technical direction, collaborate across disciplines, and drive the quality and compliance required for mission systems that operate in demanding environments.
Responsibilities
- Set the technical direction for the F-22 Stores Management System team.
- Prepare engineering basis of estimate (BOE) bids for new features.
- Regularly coordinate with the Cost Accounting Manager (CAM) to track program costs and progress.
- Engage with engineering and program management leadership to align on objectives and milestones.
- Advance product development using an Agile methodology.
- Design, implement, and integrate C/C++ code for airborne applications.
- Participate in requirements analysis, verification, and validation activities.
- Plan and support hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) simulations and testing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues and improve software quality.
- Contribute to documentation and configuration management leveraging IBM DOORS.
Requirements
- Expert proficiency in C++ or C.
- Experience with IBM DOORS or comparable requirements management tools.
- Knowledge of F-22 subsystems and software architecture is highly desired (legacy aircraft platforms).
- Strong process knowledge for developing mission-critical embedded software for aircraft applications (DO-178B, C, etc.).
- Familiarity with HWIL simulation environments and strong focus on requirement-based testing (RVT) and unit testing.
- Analytical problem-solving abilities and a drive to learn emerging technologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Work Schedules
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules to provide flexibility. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over five days, to condensed formats that grant additional time away from the office, in addition to Paid Time Off benefits.
