Software Engineer

Thomas & Reed, LLC offers an onsite Software Engineer role in Columbus, Ohio that centers on UX driven software and cloud based solutions. You will contribute to planning, designing, developing, and validating user-focused applications, with opportunities to enhance existing products and deliver new internet connected tools. This position supports collaboration across teams and a strong emphasis on delivering intuitive, high‑performing experiences for customers and stakeholders.

Location: Columbus, OH (onsite).

Responsibilities

• Plan software systems and applications with a focus on UX innovation.
• Design software architectures and applications that prioritize user experience.
• Develop software systems and applications centered on UX improvements.
• Validate and verify software solutions to ensure UX quality and reliability.
• Enhance and extend existing products to elevate usability and performance.
• Develop new solutions, especially within cloud platforms and internet connected tools.
• Create intuitive, high performance UX applications.
• Support strategic product differentiation and drive customer satisfaction.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, and C++, with the ability to apply these languages across varied development environments.
• Experience in both front-end and back-end development, with solid understanding of full-stack architecture and integration.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies, including Kanban and Scrum, and practical experience in iterative development and team collaboration.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud, including deployment and service integration.
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases for effective data modeling and access.
• Strong analytical and problem solving abilities, including troubleshooting of complex technical issues and proposing effective solutions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for effective teamwork across multidisciplinary groups.
• Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
• Hands-on GUI development experience with modern tools and frameworks, focusing on usability and performance.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices to ensure secure software design and implementation.
