Software Engineer

UpPoint, Inc. is looking for a Software Engineer to help build modern full-stack web applications in Los Angeles, CA (in person). In this role, you will work across the stack, from React or Vue frontends to backend services, REST APIs, databases, security, testing, and CI/CD, contributing to reliable releases and maintainable product features.

What you’ll work on

• Build and maintain web applications using React.js and Vue.js
• Develop backend services with Laravel, Node.js, or Python
• Design RESTful APIs and integrate third-party services such as payments, webhooks, and external APIs
• Design and optimize MySQL databases, including schema design, indexing, and query performance tuning
• Implement authentication, authorization, and secure data handling across the stack
• Write unit and integration tests and participate in code reviews
• Optimize application performance using caching, lazy loading, and query optimization
• Manage deployments and collaborate on CI/CD pipelines
• Write clean, maintainable code, troubleshoot issues, and improve existing applications
• Collaborate with designers and engineers to ship high-quality software

What we need

• 1+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Hands-on backend experience with Laravel and PHP (required); Node.js or Python frameworks are a plus
• Solid MySQL / SQL skills, including schema design and query optimization
• Strong JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3
• Experience with Git-based development workflows
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
• Daily familiarity with AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot

Compensation and location

Salary: From $60,000 per year.

Location: Los Angeles, CA 90010 (Required). Work location: In person.
