Software Engineer
Job Description
Thomas & Reed, LLC is seeking a Software Engineer to help plan, design, develop, and validate software systems and applications with an emphasis on user experience (UX) innovation. The role involves both improving existing products and creating new solutions, with work centered on cloud-based platforms and internet-connected tools.
This position is based in Columbus, OH and requires 5+ years of software development experience. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required.
Responsibilities
- Plan, design, develop, and validate software systems and applications with a focus on UX innovation.
- Support enhancements to existing products and the development of new solutions.
- Work primarily in cloud-based platforms and internet-connected tools.
Requirements
- Proficiency with programming languages such as Java, Python, and C++, applied across diverse development environments.
- Experience with front-end and back-end development, including a strong understanding of full-stack architecture and integration.
- Practical experience with Agile methodologies, including Kanban and Scrum, with iterative development and team collaboration.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud, including deployment and service integration.
- Knowledge of database management systems, including both SQL and NoSQL, for data modeling and access.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex technical issues and propose effective solutions.
- Communication and collaboration strengths to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work independently, manage time, and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines.
- Hands-on GUI development experience with modern tools and frameworks, with attention to usability and performance.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices to support secure software design and implementation.
