Software Engineer

Baxter is seeking a Software Engineer to support software and connected-product development for commercial food equipment in Orting, WA (onsite).

Responsibilities

• Lead assigned software projects end to end, from requirements through development, validation, release, and field support
• Convert product, customer, service, and engineering needs into software requirements, scopes of work, and acceptance criteria
• Coordinate priorities, schedules, technical issues, defects, and releases with third-party software developers
• Review proposed solutions and verify software meets functional, reliability, usability, and cybersecurity requirements
• Support embedded control software, touchscreen applications, microcontrollers, and ESP32-based connectivity solutions
• Support Microsoft Azure systems for device provisioning, over-the-air updates, telemetry, diagnostics, and connected-equipment management
• Troubleshoot communication across equipment, embedded controllers, networks, applications, APIs, and cloud services
• Use tools such as Postman to test APIs and troubleshoot software integrations
• Document defects, verify corrective actions, and approve software changes ahead of release
• Troubleshoot software and connectivity issues identified during engineering testing, manufacturing, or in the field after installation
• Use telemetry, logs, diagnostic information, and laboratory testing to identify root cause and corrective actions
• Support Wi-Fi connectivity and customer cybersecurity requirements, including security questionnaires, trust-center reviews, and technical discussions with customer IT organizations
• Communicate software architecture, network requirements, data flows, cloud connectivity, and update processes to technical and non-technical audiences

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
• 2+ years of professional experience in software development, embedded systems, connected products, or software systems engineering
• Experience with software requirements, testing, troubleshooting, release, and lifecycle support
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to coordinate technical work performed by external development partners

Technical Skills

• Working knowledge or experience with: C, C#, TypeScript, SQL, ASP.NET Core Web API, Microsoft Azure, REST APIs, Postman
• Embedded and connectivity: embedded systems, microcontrollers, ESP32 development, Wi-Fi networking, IoT/connected-device systems
• Expert-level experience in every technology is not required; the role requires enough technical depth to define requirements, communicate with developers, troubleshoot, evaluate solutions, validate completed work, and make smaller software changes when needed

Compensation: USD 80,000 - 85,000 per year
