Job Description

Travelers is hiring a Software Engineer I to complete intermediate end to end engineering tasks for defined system assignments, with a focus on full-stack development using MERN and an understanding of AWS and REST APIs.

Responsibilities

  • Handle analysis, design, development, and configuration activities for intermediate-complexity assignments, including defining technical requirements
  • Collaborate with the team on defect and incident analysis, assessment, and resolution; escalate appropriately when needed
  • Work within established team guidelines to independently deliver solutions for well-scoped problems
  • Identify opportunities to expand technical knowledge and capabilities
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Full-stack development experience using MERN (MongoDB, Express, React, Node) or equivalent stacks (Java/.NET)
  • Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and REST APIs
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud platforms
  • Familiarity with event streaming (Kafka)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and test automation
  • Familiarity with modern architecture patterns including microservices, containerization, and real-time/batch data processing
  • Authorization to work for ANY employer in the U.S.
  • No sponsorship/support for H-1B, TN, or Forms I-983/STEM OPT for this role
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, related STEM field, or its equivalent (education and/or work experience)
  • 2 additional years of software engineering experience

Compensation

  • Annual base salary range: $99,100 - $163,400
  • Salary will be determined by factors including scope, complexity, and location; skills, education, training, credentials, experience; and other conditions of employment
  • Eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards as part of the comprehensive compensation and benefits program
