Software Engineer III - C# / Java
Job Description
JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Software Engineer III to contribute to the Global Banking Technology team in Houston, onsite.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and troubleshoot software solutions, tackling non-routine problems with innovative approaches to drive robust outcomes.
- Deliver secure, high quality production code and maintain algorithms that integrate with relevant systems.
- Leverage enterprise AI coding assist tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity on complex deliverables, including code generation, refactoring, unit test creation, and documentation; verify outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; share learnings and reusable patterns to boost team effectiveness.
- Apply knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including AI-assisted development and automation, to maximize the value of automation initiatives.
- Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications and ensure design constraints are met in software implementation.
- Gather, analyze, and visualize data from large, diverse data sets to support continuous improvement of software applications and systems.
- Proactively identify hidden data patterns and use insights to improve coding hygiene and system architecture.
- Contribute to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies.
- Foster a culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect within the team.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering with 3+ years of applied experience.
- Expertise in C# / .NET Core or Java / Spring Core with REST APIs, JPA, and relevant microservices frameworks.
- Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and a popular UI testing framework.
- Hands-on experience using enterprise AI assisted development tools, with the ability to critically evaluate and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe usage within team practices.
- Proficiency in Object-Oriented Design and Test Driven Development, with hands-on experience in test automation frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, Playwright, and Cucumber.
- Experience building cloud-native or cloud-ready applications using AWS.
- Strong understanding of security standards such as OAuth, TLS, and Kerberos.
- Familiarity with log and metric collection and monitoring tools like ELK stack, Prometheus, Grafana, AppDynamics, and Splunk.
- Exposure to relational databases such as Oracle or MS SQL Server, and NoSQL databases like DynamoDB, MongoDB, and Cassandra.
- Hands-on experience building CI/CD pipelines using Git, Maven, Jenkins, SonarQube, and Fortify.
