Software Engineer Senior

Senior Software Engineer on an Agile Scrum team at Lockheed Martin Space, based in Colorado Springs, CO and onsite, delivering mission critical software for space systems using open source tools and cloud technologies.

Responsibilities

• Generate and simulate operational level plans to explore feasible approaches for defending key space assets in potential future space conflicts
• Dynamically optimize ground and space based sensor networks to provide robust space domain awareness
• Strategically optimize the placement and maneuvering of satellite constellations to meet multiple evolving priorities

Requirements

• Development experience with Java
• Hands-on with application containerization (Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, Containerd) in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, OpenStack, OpenShift)
• Experience working in an Agile environment using JIRA and Confluence
• Experience with CI/CD, deployment pipelines, automated builds, and configuration tools
• Must be a US citizen; must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance; facility requires special access
• Experience improving and scaling performance within a Java codebase
• Experience troubleshooting in a multi-service system
• Experience with concurrency in Java
• Development experience with Linux and shell scripting (bash, ash, ksh)
• Familiarity with the Space Domain
• Effective communicator and collaborator, with professional written and verbal skills
• Proven ability to build strong team relationships and deliver results
• Strong critical thinking and problem solving
• Ability to thrive in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment
• Strong time management skills supporting on time delivery
• Active TS/SCI security clearance

Pay Rate

The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $93,200 - $164,450. For states not referenced above, the salary range will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
