Base-2 Solutions is seeking a Software Engineer 3 to support the NMEC DOMEX Technology Platform and the D3P Modernization effort. This onsite role in Bethesda, MD focuses on building and operating a full-stack, containerized microservices environment, including production big data pipelines running on Kubernetes.
Responsibilities
- Deploy, triage, and maintain a production big data pipeline using a microservice architecture on Kubernetes, including an Elasticsearch backend and Kafka messaging.
- Enhance and maintain CI/CD and DevOps scripts and processes.
- Design, develop, and support scalable and redundant infrastructure across physical and virtualized environments.
- Use Helm to configure Kubernetes deployments aligned with new feature requirements.
- Collaborate with teams across systems engineering, architecture, development, security, operations, and integration.
- Participate in Agile release planning activities including scrum of scrums, bug triage, design sessions, and related meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI with ability to obtain a CI Polygraph.
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of six years of experience in the category field; three additional years of experience may substitute for the bachelor’s degree.
- Strong Linux proficiency.
- Hands-on experience with containers and Kubernetes.
- Experience with CI/CD orchestration and GitLab.
- Familiarity with Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana.
- Demonstrated success working in cross-functional engineering environments.

- Familiarity with Kafka or other messaging systems, Kubernetes monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana, GPU-based Kubernetes, SALT for deployment automation, Helm/Helmfile, and Nexus.
