SR Software Engineer (API/Digital Services)

Dollar General seeks an experienced Senior Software Engineer to advance API and digital services across its ecommerce and Loyalty platforms. The role translates business requirements into robust technical designs, mentors junior engineers, and leads small development engagements.

Salary Range

USD 115,905 to 120,905 per year

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and debug software for new and existing applications, allocating roughly 65 percent of the workload to development and debugging tasks.
• Create, run, and document unit and system level tests to ensure coverage and quality.
• Propose and implement changes to both new and existing applications as needed.
• Provide production support on a 7x24 basis as required.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and practices as part of the development team.
• Develop and maintain REST and gRPC services for ecommerce and loyalty applications with scalable, high quality code.
• Collaborate with cross functional teams to translate requirements into API specifications and monitor API performance for improvements.
• Write and maintain API documentation for developers and consumers.
• Mentor junior engineers, participate in code reviews, and contribute to sprint planning and estimation.
• Work with frontend and backend developers to ensure seamless API integration and overall system cohesion.
• Produce clean, maintainable code focused on simplicity, clarity, and testability.
• Provide application support, diagnose problems, and deliver solutions for complex issues.
• Build reusable software components to accelerate delivery and quality.
• Apply test driven development and integrate unit tests into development tasks.
• Ensure alignment of code with overall architecture and business objectives.
• Stay updated on technology changes relevant to the domain and apply them as appropriate.
• Apply strong analytical skills to gather requirements and design new functionality.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of software development experience in an IT organization or equivalent education.
• 5+ years of experience designing and developing RESTful APIs using .NET Framework or .NET Core and C#.
• 3+ years of experience delivering software for ecommerce applications.
• 3+ years of experience with relational databases such as Oracle, MSSQL, or PostgreSQL.
• 1+ years of experience with NoSQL databases such as Cassandra or MongoDB.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, trade school, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience deploying and managing applications on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Experience with containers and orchestration via Kubernetes or equivalent is a plus.
• Experience implementing event driven systems using messaging platforms such as RabbitMQ, Kafka or Azure Service Bus.
• Develop and maintain REST/gRPC services for ecommerce and loyalty applications with high quality, scalable, and performant code.
