Sr. Software Engineer, UI Developer Tooling
Job Description
CrowdStrike is seeking a Senior UI Platform Engineer to lead the design and build of shared developer tooling for its next-generation front end. This role focuses on module federation foundations, build and CI tooling, scaffolding automation through a platform CLI, and improvements to developer experience for UI engineers across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the module federation architecture enabling dozens of Product Groups to ship independent microfrontends into a single UI shell, while keeping contracts stable, versions disciplined, and cross-team breakage rare.
- Lead shared Vite build and development-server tooling used by UI engineers locally and in CI, supporting fast hot reload, reliable sub-package watching, and honest cold start performance.
- Design and operate CI pipelines that build, verify, and publish every UI package across GitLab CI and Jenkins, optimizing for speed, caching, and clear failure signals.
- Ship a single platform CLI used to scaffold repositories, wire projects into module federation, run tests, and cut releases with one command that covers local and CI workflows.
- Implement automated dependency management via Renovate, integrate security scanning, and support AI-assisted upgrades so version updates, vulnerability response, and monorepo hygiene do not depend on individual teams.
- Shift validation left by moving linting, type checks, build validation, and contract checks into developers’ editor workflows and pre-push hooks.
- Partner with UI Quality, UI Release, and Observability to deliver a consistent platform experience through a unified CLI workflow.
- Collaborate with Product Group leads to migrate legacy build and tooling patterns onto the shared paved-road approach and drive organization-wide adoption.
- Mentor engineers on build tooling, module federation, and monorepo patterns, and provide thoughtful code review across the platform and its consumers.
- Build ephemeral environments and preview deployments per MR to provide fast, reliable feedback before changes are merged.
Required Qualifications
- Experience building shared frameworks, tooling, or platforms that other engineers rely on daily.
- Strong knowledge of Vite and modern front-end build tooling, with the ability to diagnose issues within complex module graphs.
- Production experience shipping module federation (or equivalent microfrontend architecture) at scale, including understanding versioning, contract, and runtime pitfalls.
- Fluency in TypeScript, monorepo tooling such as Nx or Turborepo, and modern package management with pnpm workspaces.
- Experience designing GitLab CI pipelines that remain fast and reliable while providing clear signals when failures occur.
- Experience automating dependency management (for example, Renovate) and incorporating security tooling such as SAST, SCA, and Snyk into developer workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to set engineering standards that autonomous teams adopt, with the capability to influence senior engineers and leaders when needed.
- Proven experience using AI in earnest to improve decision-making, streamline workflows, increase efficiency, and drive business outcomes.
