A Structural Forensic Engineer is needed on site in Springfield, MO to perform hands-on failure analysis across field, lab, and office environments to identify root causes of failures in a building's skeleton and envelope.

Responsibilities

Perform hands-on failure analyses in the field and at testing facilities to determine root causes
Document observations and finalize technical findings in comprehensive reports
Conduct focused technical research to support conclusions
Apply engineering theories and knowledge to real-world scenarios
Meet client-imposed deadlines for assignments
Maintain consistent ethical practices across all work activities
Communicate complex structural issues clearly to non-technical audiences through written reports

Requirements

Self-motivated and proactive work style
Strong problem-solving abilities
Detail-oriented with thorough attention to data
Effective written and verbal communication
Master's degree in civil engineering
Ph.D. in civil engineering
Five years of supervisory or project management experience
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
Valid Driver's License in good standing and demonstrated safe driving habits
Ability to pass a background check as required for the position

Position Type / Expected Hours

Type: Full-time. Some flexibility in hours is permitted, but the role requires availability during standard work hours 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, onsite in Springfield, MO.

Physical Demands

Combination of fieldwork, travel, and sedentary tasks
Regular driving; ability to stand, sit, walk, reach, type, talk, hear, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds

Travel

Regular travel is required as part of the Structural Forensic Engineer role, with some overnight trips possible.
