Systems/Software Engineer II

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking a Systems/Software Engineer II to design, build, troubleshoot, and debug software programs that support enhancements and new products. In this hybrid role based in Roseville, CA, you will work across systems software areas such as operating systems, networking, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools, collaborating with both internal and outsourced partners throughout development and testing.

This position focuses on limited enhancements and updates, with opportunities to contribute to integration and team-based problem solving. The role also includes executing portions of test activities and documenting results for assigned components.

Responsibilities

• Design limited enhancements, updates, and programming changes for portions and subsystems of systems software, including operating systems, compilers, networking, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools.
• Analyze design to determine coding, programming, and integration tasks required to meet specific objectives and follow established project guidelines.
• Execute and write portions of testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned portions of an application.
• Identify and debug issues in code, then recommend changes or improvements.
• Participate as a project team member alongside other software systems engineers and internal or outsourced development partners to deliver reliable, cost-effective, high-quality solutions for assigned systems components.
• Collaborate and communicate with internal and outsourced development partners on software systems design status, project progress, and issue resolution.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
• Typically 2-4 years of experience (minimum 2 years).
• Python experience is required.
• Experience using software systems design tools and languages.
• Ability to apply analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience designing software systems that run on multiple platform types.
• Knowledge of software systems testing methodology, including execution of test plans, debugging, and use of testing scripts and tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including mastery in English and the local language, with the ability to communicate design proposals and negotiate options.
