Job Description

UST, a global digital transformation partner, is seeking a UX/UI Design Engineer for a 12-month, onsite contract in Santa Clara, California. The role centers on crafting data-heavy, B2B supply chain software, guiding the full UX/UI design process from concept through high-fidelity deliverables, with rapid 3–4 week sprints, AI-assisted prototyping, and impactful data visualizations. You will collaborate with a senior designer and cross-functional teams to apply UX methodologies across the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end UX/UI design for supply chain software, taking concepts and user flows to polished Figma deliverables suitable for handoff or usability testing.
  • Participate in rapid design cycles, delivering refined output within 3–4 week sprints and incorporating feedback continuously.
  • Explore AI-assisted tools, such as Claude Code, to rapidly prototype and develop near-production quality applications as part of an evolving design workflow.
  • Translate dense operational and analytical data into clear, actionable visualizations and interface patterns for business users.
  • Collaborate with a senior designer to interpret requirements into user-centered decisions, engaging with a cross-functional team of PMs and engineers.
  • Apply UX research and design methods—usability testing, user interviews, iterative prototyping, and information architecture—throughout the product lifecycle.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional UX/UI design experience; a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Portfolio submission is required.
  • Ability to produce rigorous, well-crafted designs under tight timelines, spanning user-centered design, information architecture, interaction design, visual design, and iterative prototyping.
  • Demonstrated skill in designing data visualizations that render complex operational data clear and actionable for business stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Figma for design, prototyping, and managing component libraries.
  • Willingness and aptitude to learn AI-assisted development tools as part of an evolving design workflow.
  • Capacity to quickly absorb design requirements from a senior designer and drive projects forward with ownership and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and able to work across multiple projects with a self-directed approach.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Claude Code or similar AI-assisted coding tools.
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS for tighter design-to-code fidelity, and familiarity with VS Code.
