Automation Application Engineer
Job Description
Responsibilities
- Robotic System Design & Application: Create concepts and layouts for automation tasks including pick-and-place, palletizing, welding, material handling, assembly, bin picking, and packaging; select suitable robots, end-of-arm tooling (EOAT), vision systems, and safety devices.
- Technical Proposals & Quotations: Produce comprehensive proposals and quotations covering robot programs and concepts, cycle-time analyses, CAD-based layouts, risk assessments, cost estimates, and integration plans with PLCs, conveyors, and other automation equipment.
- Customer & Sales Support: Act as the technical authority for the sales team, participating in customer meetings, site visits, and presentations to capture requirements and demonstrate robotic solutions; translate client needs into robust automation applications.
- Feasibility & Optimization: Conduct reach and payload analyses, cycle-time simulations, and ROI evaluations, ensuring solutions meet safety standards (such as RIA), quality, and throughput targets.
- Technology Expertise: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of cobots, machine vision, AI-guided robotics, and Industry 4.0 integration technologies.
Requirements
- 3–8+ years in robotic applications, automation engineering, or related roles. Hands-on experience with industrial robots is essential, with FANUC strongly preferred in the region, plus ABB, UR, and other brands.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or Electrical Engineering.
