Job Description
dHA engineering is seeking a Building Mechanical or Electrical Engineer, Designer, or entry-level professional to assist with the design and development of commercial and industrial building systems. This role supports engineering deliverables, field verification, and coordination within a multidisciplinary consulting environment.
Role Overview
The position focuses on engineering calculations, system layouts, construction documentation, and on-site evaluation to support design development and project assessments. The selected candidate will contribute to feasibility studies, technical specifications, and coordination across architectural, structural, and other MEP disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Develop and support design work for commercial and industrial building systems.
- Prepare engineering calculations, equipment sizing, system layouts, schedules, and construction documents.
- Perform site visits to evaluate existing conditions and inform design development and project assessments.
- Support feasibility studies and evaluations of existing building systems.
- Assist with technical specifications and preliminary project budgeting preparation.
- Coordinate engineering designs with architectural, structural, and other MEP disciplines.
- Apply applicable building, energy, safety, and engineering codes and standards.
- Review drawings and technical documentation to maintain coordination and design consistency.
- Communicate with project team members, clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (required).
- EIT/FE certification or progress toward certification (preferred).
- AutoCAD and/or Revit experience (preferred).
- Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook proficiency (preferred).
- Strong analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
Electrical Focus
- Utility services and electrical distribution systems.
- Load and demand calculations.
- Panel schedules and single-line diagrams.
- Lighting and power systems.
- Life safety, telecommunications, and security systems.
- Voltage drop and fault-current calculations.
- Knowledge of applicable requirements of the National Electrical Code (NEC), California Electrical Code (CEC), and other relevant codes and standards.
Mechanical Focus
- HVAC systems and equipment.
- Heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
- Mechanical equipment selection and sizing.
- Plumbing systems and coordination.
- Energy-efficient building systems.
- Knowledge of applicable mechanical, plumbing, energy, and building codes and standards.

Compensation and Location
- Location: Pasadena, CA (onsite)
- Salary: USD 800 - 1,600 per weekly

Experience and Education
- Three or more years of relevant commercial or industrial building design experience preferred for experienced Engineer and Designer positions.
