Cleared Backend Software Engineer

Join Swoon Group in Washington, DC on site as a Cleared Backend Software Engineer. This role offers a salary in the range of $100,000 to $150,000 per year, plus a benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision insurance, a retirement plan, and paid time off. You will work in a secure environment designing and maintaining scalable backend systems for critical applications, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and applying robust security practices. This position requires an active TS/SCI security clearance and is based on site in the nation’s capital.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and maintain secure backend components for modern web applications using standard frameworks and technologies.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs to enable seamless frontend-backend communication and support multi-model integrations with Frontier AI platforms.
• Write clean, efficient, maintainable, and well-documented code that adheres to secure coding practices and established software engineering standards.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, frontend developers, and other technical stakeholders to gather requirements, devise solutions, and implement new features.
• Participate in peer code reviews to sustain high code quality, identify opportunities for improvement, and contribute to development best practices.
• Troubleshoot application issues, address backend performance bottlenecks, and optimize reliability and scalability across both classified and unclassified environments.
• Continuously evaluate emerging backend technologies, cloud capabilities, and advancements in the generative AI landscape to support ongoing innovation.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI security clearance.
• Strong experience developing backend applications using Golang, Python, or comparable languages.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL or similar technologies.
• Familiarity with Git and modern CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid understanding of web application security principles, secure software design, authentication methods, and cybersecurity best practices.
• Experience developing and deploying containerized applications using Kubernetes.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
