Construction/Civil Engineer/Mining Engineer/PE/Environmental Engineer

Devcare Solutions is hiring a design engineer to lead construction and civil engineering work across planning, design, and execution. The role supports complex projects and requires an active PE license, with in-person work at one of three Ohio locations.

This day shift position runs from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (40 hours/week) and is based in Worthington, OH (onsite).

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, design, and execution of construction and civil engineering projects while meeting timelines and budgets
• Perform root cause analysis to troubleshoot engineering issues involving mechanical systems, environmental controls, or structural components
• Use AutoCAD and SolidWorks to create detailed 3D modeling for product designs and mechanical systems
• Develop and review schematics, BIM tools, and technical drawings supporting construction and manufacturing processes
• Conduct building code analysis and support compliance with local regulations and safety standards, including fire protection systems and building code requirements
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across system design, project management, and cross-functional communication
• Collect data through laboratory testing or field inspections; analyze results using MATLAB or Python to inform decisions
• Oversee construction activities with hands-on construction management experience, including scheduling, resource allocation, and quality assurance
• Apply engineering troubleshooting methods to address system failures or design flaws promptly
• Conduct site inspections using 3D scanners or other advanced tools to verify construction accuracy and quality control

Requirements

• Proficiency with project scheduling software for effective timeline management
• Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving capabilities
• Expertise using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and BIM tools for detailed design work
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, mechanical design principles, and systems engineering practices
• Experience with PLCs, scripting languages such as Python or C++, and MATLAB for data analysis and automation tasks
• Familiarity with civil engineering standards, including building code compliance and GDT (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
• Hands-on construction environment experience with attention to safety protocols and quality standards
• Ability to support engineering research through data collection, schematic development, and laboratory testing
• Strong communication skills for collaboration in multidisciplinary settings
• Practical knowledge of fire protection systems, structural schematics, 3D modeling for product design, and BIM
• Active PE (Professional Engineer) license (Preferred). (This license is also required for the role.)
