Job Description
South Texas Radiology Group, P.A. seeks a Data Engineer to build and maintain data pipelines and analytics support for enterprise reporting and BI across the organization.
- Adhere to STRG Policies and Procedures at all times
- Gather information for moderately complex processes; analyze data and trends; identify root causes
- Build and maintain centralized data warehouse infrastructure
- Select appropriate platform options for each component of the data warehouse
- Import data from multiple agency EHRs and web-based sources using ELT/ETL best practices
- Partner with internal managers and external partners to establish data pipelines for reporting and other business functions
- Ensure data integrity across data sources, including integrated information systems
- Support physician productivity reporting and other measurable outcomes with the President
- Support physician scheduling and related reporting needs with the Vice President, as needed
- Assist with enterprise report creation using warehouse data, including development of a data dictionary
- Maintain data normalization strategy for new incoming warehouse data
- Create and maintain a semantic layer for report KPIs and business metrics
- Support data mining and analytical capabilities to inform executive-led decision making and corporate strategy
- Develop and maintain a data management strategy covering data acquisition and archive recovery
- Support business teams interacting with the data warehouse and/or underlying data sources
- Maintain CI/CD best practices for accurate and accessible business data using Agile project management principles
- Provide transparency of development processes
- Review and audit reports, data sources, and data streams for accuracy and completeness
- Manage and deploy BI tools for company teams
- Support departmental initiatives as requested
- Assist with alerting and educating staff on EHR changes
- Support system administrative setup as requested
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient protected health information as required by STRG procedures and HIPAA Privacy, Security, HITECH, and Transactions and Code Sets regulations
- Perform other duties as required
Requirements
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask across multiple priorities
- Advanced Excel knowledge and experience required
- Knowledge of analytical and BI tools: MS Excel, Tableau, PowerBI
- Strong programming skills: Python, SQL, shell/bash
- Expertise in: database technologies, ELT/ETL processes, REST APIs, data warehousing, and workflow management tools
- Experience querying and maintaining relational databases: SQL Server, Postgres
- Version control experience: GitHub
- Knowledge of containerization technologies
- Experience with cloud development platforms such as GCP and cloud-native applications
- Cursory understanding of healthcare terminology, including CPT, RVU, and charge terminology
- Knowledge of revenue cycle systems and mapping logic within billing tables
- 4 years of experience in end-to-end analysis and/or operations experience, including at least some of: requirement gathering and documentation, operational planning and forecasting, data analytics or current/future state analysis, in support of business planning initiatives

Job Details
- Position: Data Engineer
- Reports to: Controller
- Location: San Antonio, TX (on-site)
- FLSA status: Exempt
- Experience: 4 years minimum
- Attendance / Work Schedule: Must meet minimum attendance requirements, work full-time regular hours Monday through Friday, and be available for after-hours or weekends as required, including scheduled or emergency overtime; this role does not include “light duty” and does not allow unpredictable or unrestricted absences
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Management Information Systems, or Business Administration
- Supplemented with one or more courses in current technology
- Experience in lieu of formal education may be substituted
