Job Description

Ateeco, Inc is hiring a Senior Electrical Controls Engineer to lead electrical engineering efforts across manufacturing equipment installation, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and modifications within industrial automation environments. This onsite role supports plant-floor activities and requires travel to manufacturing sites, with options based in Wilmington, NC or Concord, NC (Concord, NC listed as the primary location).

You will coordinate engineering activities from planning through execution, working alongside system integrators, machine builders, technicians, maintenance teams, and contractors. The role is hands-on and centers on electrical controls, PLC and PC-based systems, and documentation review to ensure safe, reliable equipment performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical engineering activities for manufacturing equipment installation, startup, and commissioning.
  • Troubleshoot PLC, PC-based controls, machine controls, analog/digital I/O, and control systems.
  • Develop and modify PLC/control software and industrial automation systems.
  • Manage project plans, schedules, timelines, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Partner with system integrators, machine builders, technicians, maintenance teams, and contractors.
  • Review and modify electrical drawings, schematics, machine specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Evaluate equipment compatibility and redesign electrical components when required.
  • Procure and expedite materials for equipment installations.
  • Provide technical training to technicians and contractors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing or related engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical power systems up to 480VAC.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting industrial equipment and controls.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing systems and equipment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and safety focus.

Work Environment & Travel

  • Primarily onsite in a manufacturing/plant environment.
  • Approximately 40+ hours per week, Monday–Friday.
  • Occasional adjusted hours and weekends may be required.
  • Travel is required, including travel to manufacturing sites in North Carolina and potentially international locations.
  • Hands-on interaction with industrial equipment and plant-floor activities.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: USD 105,000 - 145,000 per yearly.
