An Electrical Engineer position with the US Naval Sea Systems Command is based onsite in Groton, CT. The role centers on technical investigations and oversight of the FBW/SFCC Ship Control System for the Virginia and Columbia class submarines, encompassing design, construction, testing, installation, and evaluation of shipboard electrical and electronic systems, sea trial observation, and preparation of technical correspondence.

Responsibilities
- Lead and participate in technical investigations to resolve FBW/SFCC Ship Control System issues, applying specialized knowledge and incorporating new developments to improve resolution approaches.
- Prepare technical correspondence on the design, construction, overhaul, repair, testing, fabrication, and operation of VIRGINIA Class and COLUMBIA Class Flight Critical Components, based on reports and correspondence received.
- Serve as the Electrical/Electronics Division sea trial observer, collecting data on test procedures, equipment casualties, and related topics for post-trial reporting.
- Assess the technical adequacy of shipboard cabling, block and schematic diagrams, vendor drawings, wiring plans, hull fitting assignments, and installation detail drawings for VIRGINIA Class and COLUMBIA Class Ship Control Systems.
- Evaluate FBW/SFCC Ship Control System and equipment test procedures, specifications, and system requirements for technical adequacy, contract conformance, and quality compliance.
- Identify and mitigate design, construction, and program risks associated with FBW Ship Control System development and deployment.
Requirements
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Suitability: Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- Education and experience: A professional engineering degree (ABET-accredited) or equivalent licensure/registration (EI/EIT/PE); minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
