Job Description
Electrical Engineer (Buildings) with WSP onsite in Denver or Greenwood Village, CO, earning USD 90,700 - 122,620 per year, and contributing to healthcare, science and technology, higher education and commercial projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex electrical projects across new construction, renovations, and infrastructure upgrades, including review and approval of electrical design plans to ensure data integrity and compliance with codes, ordinances, and regulations.
- Apply advanced electrical engineering techniques across concept development, preliminary and final design, procurement, construction and operation phases.
- Incorporate future-ready techniques, concept development, operating strategies, and diverse electrical design requirements.
- Develop and review electrical calculations for loads, equipment sizing, grounding touch and step potentials, short-circuit studies, overcurrent device coordination, one-line diagrams, and protective relaying.
- Lead MEP engineering projects by preparing and overseeing budgets, tracking hours and expenses, supervising subcontractors, ensuring task completion, and managing materials, equipment and labor quantities and costs.
- Develop and review plans, specifications and cost estimates, updating electrical infrastructure layout plans in coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations detailing research findings, concepts and recommendations.
- Provide guidance and leadership to project members with strict adherence to QA/QC.
- Stay current with the latest electrical engineering techniques and practices.
- Make responsible, ethical decisions regarding company funds and resources, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 3 to 5 years of post-education experience delivering electrical design for large capital projects.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices, processes, and their application to permitting and project issues.
- Familiarity with NEC, ICC building codes, and IECC energy codes.
- Ability to apply innovative analytical techniques to solve complex technical problems.
- Experience coordinating and managing tasks within larger projects.
- Proficiency with Revit.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Willingness to travel to project sites on occasion.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for audiences including engineers and non-engineers.
- Self-motivated with attention to detail, multitasking ability, and prioritization in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while guiding project members and maintaining QA/QC.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to interpret data, perform calculations and derive effective solutions.
- Experience coordinating and directing subcontractors to ensure safe and efficient task completion.
- Proven ability to develop solid client relationships.
- Team player with reliability, responsiveness, and collaboration.
- Track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to health, safety and related policies.
