Job Description

The Electrical Liaison Engineer role supports production at the Muncie Final Assembly plant, serving as the bridge between Design Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure electrical systems are manufacturable, align with production capabilities, and drive quality, cost reduction, and continuous improvement.

Sterling Engineering/Staffing is seeking an Electrical Liaison Engineer for a client in the Muncie, Indiana area. Sterling has a long-standing history of delivering top talent to its client base and operates nationwide with more than 100 clients, primarily serving Fortune 1000 corporations.

Muncie, Indiana — 100 percent onsite

Hourly Rate

Rate: USD 55 per hour

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Manufacturing to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical design issues on the production floor
  • Implement corrective actions and drive root-cause solutions
  • Provide hands-on support, including rework of electrical components when required
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure manufacturability standards are met
  • Communicate design improvements and production feedback to Engineering teams
  • Align product designs with manufacturing capabilities and supplier inputs
  • Support cost reduction, cycle time improvement, and higher production efficiency
  • Promote standardization and simplification of designs and documentation
  • Contribute to Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Built-In Quality (BIQ) initiatives

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in a related field
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings
  • Basic understanding of assembly processes and design principles
  • Familiarity with electrical systems and components; locomotive experience is a plus
  • Experience with engineering and ERP tools (e.g., TeamCenter, NX, SAP, Infor LN)
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing concepts
  • Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude and the ability to work independently
