Job Description

Jasper Engines & Transmissions seeks an Electronic Test Equipment Engineer to design, develop, maintain, and continually improve automated test equipment used to validate manufacturing processes. This role demands solid electrical and mechanical fundamentals, hands-on troubleshooting proficiency, and experience building test systems with LabVIEW, PLCs, and related instrumentation.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and deploy custom test equipment including fixtures, harnesses, control panels, and automated test systems.
  • Create and modify electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts using CAD tools.
  • Engineer mechanical components for fixtures and test stations with emphasis on safety, robustness, ergonomics, and repeatability.
  • Select and integrate sensors, actuators, DAQ hardware, power supplies, and measurement instruments.
  • Develop, debug, and maintain LabVIEW based applications for automated data acquisition, control, and reporting.
  • Interface LabVIEW with test instruments such as DMMs, power supplies, and oscilloscopes via protocols including GPIB, USB, Ethernet, and Serial.
  • Implement pass/fail criteria, test sequencing, data logging, and user interfaces.
  • Support version control processes and maintain software documentation best practices.
  • Generate and sustain comprehensive documentation, including schematics, BOMs, test procedures, and calibration requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Solid knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals, including analog and digital circuits, power systems, and signal integrity.
  • Practical understanding of mechanical design for fixtures, enclosures, and tooling.
  • Proficiency with LabVIEW for test automation and data acquisition.
  • Experience creating and reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Familiarity with test and measurement equipment such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and DAQs.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, and software domains.
