Embedded Software Engineer
Job Description
Borsight Inc is seeking a US citizen for an Embedded Software Engineer role focused on designing, developing, and maintaining low-level, performance-critical embedded software for hardware platforms used in avionics, mission systems, and datalinks. The role supports RTOS-based development and includes debugging, integration, documentation, and agile SCRUM execution in an onsite Ogden, Utah environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize RTOS-based components, including tasks, scheduling, IPC, timers, and memory management.
- Write and debug device drivers, HAL layers, and board support packages (BSP).
- Implement and maintain bootloaders, startup code, and low-level initialization routines.
- Create technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, interface specifications, and user manuals.
- Execute the agile SCRUM development process.
- Produce cross-platform, compact, well-documented code.
- Act as a self-starter by developing a potential solution from limited requirements, presenting it to peers, incorporating input, and modifying the solution accordingly.
- Collaborate with a team by providing and requesting assistance as required.
- Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and recommend improvements to products, processes, and tools.
- Perform work primarily in an office environment with periodic presence in labs, production areas, and on aircraft as required.
- Attend internal and external technical and program meetings as required.
- May require short-term CONUS TDYs to meet with users and/or perform system analysis.
- Existing passport desired for OCONUS travel.
Required Qualifications
- BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with RTOS platforms such as PikeOS, Zephyr, or FreeRTOS.
- Solid understanding of microcontroller architecture (for example, ARM Cortex or RISC-V).
- Familiarity with interrupts, timers, DMA, and peripheral interfaces including SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, and USB.
- Understanding of low-level concepts including memory maps, linker scripts, boot sequences, and hardware registers.
- Knowledge and ability to develop in Java, C, C++, and Android; willingness to learn other computer languages as directed.
- Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams.
- Knowledge and ability to document requirements, specifications, and deficiencies.
- Knowledge and passion for complex math algorithms.
- Understanding of object-oriented programming languages, including Java.
- Experience using MS Office products including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Excel.
- Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills for reporting to executive leadership as well as customers.
- Ability to work autonomously, independently or with a group, to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Fully developed organizational and leadership skills.
- Proven analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding sensitive defense projects.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where change is normal and multiple tasks must be managed daily.

Employment Type and Compensation

- Pay: $81,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
- Compensation package: Bonus opportunities; yearly pay

Conditions of Employment
- All Borsight employees serve in positions with access to Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), classified information, or are involved in national security, health or safety, or other functions requiring a high degree of trust and confidence.
- Employees are subject to random facility perimeter control efforts to deter and detect the introduction or removal of classified information from Borsight’s secured facility.
- All employees entering or exiting the facility are subject to inspection.
- This role is a critical position that requires a USG security clearance.
- All employees require a pre-employment drug screen and a background check and are subject to random drug screening during employment.
