Engineer II
Job Description
Robbins, A Global TBM Company, is seeking an Engineer II to help translate specifications into reliable, safe, and cost-effective Robbins equipment. Based in Kent, Washington, this hybrid role blends hands-on design work with cross-functional collaboration to ensure safety compliance throughout the product lifecycle. The position emphasizes design calculations, drawing reviews, and active participation in design reviews led by the Project Engineer.
Responsibilities
- Layout innovative and specification compliant designs for Robbins equipment.
- Follow the company’s Design Control and Drawing Change Procedures.
- Prepare design calculations to substantiate function and fitness of products.
- Check drawings for accuracy.
- Participate in design reviews scheduled by Project Engineer.
- Design products that comply with all appropriate and relevant safety regulations.
- Model and draft designs, taking into account appropriate tolerancing, welding requirements and fit-up with associated parts.
- Where appropriate, prepare functional description of design elements.
- Domestic and International travel for short periods (up to 3 weeks per trip) to participate in technical meetings and/or to inspect and troubleshoot machinery at jobsites.
Requirements
- B.S. Mechanical Engineering
- 2 years of experience in machine design or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering
- Proficient in AutoCAD (2D) and Solid Edge (3D) or equivalent design and drafting software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Finite Element Stress Analysis experience preferred.
- Fluency in 2nd language preferred.
- Appreciation for geology, rock mechanics, mining, and civil engineering as related to tunnel construction preferred.

Unusual physical requirements, and/or working conditions
- Occasional visits to job sites that may exhibit fumes, airborne particles, heat/cold, vibration, and possible exposure to diseases that require protection through the administration of drugs, vaccinations, and/or shots prior to, during, and/or after the visit.
Compensation
Salary range: $62,716.70 - $75,529.79 per year
