Hotel Maintenance Engineer

Job Description

Doubletree Hotel Austin is seeking an Hotel Maintenance Engineer to support safe, efficient, and well-maintained hotel facilities in Austin, TX (onsite). The role focuses on preventative maintenance, repairs, and building upkeep to support guest satisfaction and regulatory compliance.

Job Purpose

  • Maintain all building-related systems and the building envelope to support the safety of hotel guests, associates, and vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with company Engineering Assumptions/Culture, preventative maintenance programs and procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, Mission Vision and Values, and all Building/Fire/Health Department codes.
  • Maintain the building complex with a constant focus on energy efficiency and energy savings.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preventative maintenance and complete report work orders, including tasks such as replacing ceiling tiles and light bulbs, and patching vinyl, to maintain hotel standards.
  • Complete preventative maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis (example: room care).
  • Assist with inspections of electrical systems, including air conditioning controls, television sets, and lighting systems; perform minor repairs and/or replacements.
  • Assist with routine repairs and support major repairs across hotel equipment, including small appliances, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, boilers, pool equipment, HVAC, hand and power tools, and general plumbing systems and fixtures (pipelines, toilets, sinks, kitchen and laundry equipment).
  • Service the hotel pool by adjusting chemicals and cleaning filters; complete maintenance request forms and maintain record logs.
  • Maintain the building exterior and curb appeal, including snow removal, lawn care, painting, and gardening.
  • Refurbish guest room furniture and fixtures such as cabinets, tables, chairs, doors, windows, and counters; paint and finish furniture and fixtures as needed.
  • Respond in a courteous manner to guest questions, complaints, and requests to support guest satisfaction.
  • Support role duties in environments that include exposure to extreme temperatures and operation of heavy machinery.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis; perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Specific contributions that must be developed during the training program to successfully complete the program and be placed in a hotel with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

  • Experience: 1+ years.
  • Trade background: Vocational schooling, military training, certification and/or experience in building-related trades required in one or more of the following areas: HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Carpentry.
  • Preferred: Hotel experience.
  • Physical demands: Climbing, reading, standing, walking, and routinely lifting 25 lbs. to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Communication: Must be able to receive instructions and communicate progress of work assignments.
  • Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to adapt communication style for supervisors, coworkers, and the public.

Compensation

  • Salary: USD 20 to 23 per hour

Qualifications and Skills
