Job Description

Limited-tenure, 100% on-site field service role in Southaven, Mississippi supporting formation, launch, and stabilization of a new company and laboratory.

  • Maintain medical, clinical equipment and systems using the Mayo Clinic Medical Equipment Management Plan
  • Perform planning, installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair for biomedical and laboratory equipment
  • Support interconnected patient care systems as part of equipment service activities
  • Use technical and mechanical skills to complete assigned tasks for clinical and research-related equipment
  • Follow Mayo policy and procedure during service work
  • Prioritize service calls appropriately
  • Respond to emergent calls directly from the customer, with requirements for rapid response
  • Build mastery through continuous learning to support increasingly complex equipment
  • Focus on lower complexity, high volume equipment such as:
    • Infusion pumps
    • SCDs
    • Centrifuges
    • Microscopes
    • Entry level imaging and x-ray

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Biomedical Electronics/Healthcare Technology Management, Electronics, Mechatronics, Engineering (mechanical/computer/electronics), or another technical discipline
  • Alternative pathway: U.S. Military training in biomedical electronics, mechatronics, or engineering (mechanical/computer/electronics)
  • Alternative pathway: H.S. Diploma or technical certificate plus 3 years of related experience
  • Related experience typically includes maintaining medical equipment or medical systems as a field service technician
  • For laboratory or research roles: Associate degree or higher in medical/clinical laboratory science, medical technology, or related science, plus experience maintaining lab/medical equipment or systems
  • Authorization to work and remain in the United States without Mayo Clinic sponsorship now or in the future
  • Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program

Preferred Qualifications

  • AAMI ACI Certification (examples listed): AAMI-CBAT, CBET, CRES, CHTM, CISS, CCEACCE-HTCC, CCE
  • Vendor training on relevant equipment
  • Knowledge of safe work practices around biological, chemical, radiation, and energy hazards
  • Familiarity with test and QA tools/software used for medical equipment maintenance
  • Knowledge of mathematics, physics, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, biology, and medical terminology

Schedule & Work Details

  • Location: Southaven, MS (100% on-site)
  • Employment type: Full Time
  • Hours per pay period: 80
  • Shift options:
    • First Shift: 2:00 AM – 10:30 AM
    • Second Shift: 10:30 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Workdays: Tuesday–Saturday
  • Weekly on-call rotation: once every 4 weeks
  • Responsibility and schedule changes: may vary as operational milestones are achieved, with an anticipated post-launch schedule for the lab
  • International assignment: No

Compensation

  • $32.39 - $43.73 per hour
  • Nonexempt position

Education

  • Associate’s degree or H.S. Diploma/technical certificate with 3 years of related experience
