OSP Engineer

TurnKey Network Solutions is seeking an OSP Engineer to lead the design and validation of telecom fiber routes in the Batavia, Illinois area. The position centers on engineering aerial and underground fiber paths, coordinating construction methods and authorities, producing as-built documentation, and nurturing customer relationships, all with on-site responsibilities in the Batavia region.

Responsibilities

• Engineer and design detailed telecom aerial and underground fiber optic route designs and submit to CAD, including re-engineering when needed.
• Determine appropriate OSP construction methods, such as aerial strand/lash, directional boring, trenching, and plow.
• Identify and document potential risks for chosen routes, including congested rights-of-way and conflicts with aerial facilities.
• Review CAD outputs to ensure only proper engineering and design moves proceed.
• Identify, coordinate, and consult with AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction).
• Compile and verify as-built documentation.
• Participate in pre-construction ride-outs with the team when requested or required.
• Represent the company with a focus on customer satisfaction.
• Identify new business opportunities and contribute to building long-term client relationships.
• Provide regular status updates on assigned projects to the engineering division management.

Requirements

• Familiarity with outside plant telecommunications principles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• AutoCAD familiarity is a plus.
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with customers, colleagues, leadership, vendors, and pedestrians.
• Ability to articulate ideas clearly in both spoken and written form across in-person, phone, text, and email interactions.
• Capable of scheduling and managing workload with minimal supervision.

Physical Demands
