Job Description
At HKA Enterprises in Raleigh, NC, the Power Distribution Design Engineer brings developing technical expertise to power distribution challenges and helps oversee project work under close supervision. The role blends field data collection, meticulous work-order management, and data entry into design systems while coordinating activities across the team to meet project goals.
Responsibilities
- Write work orders and manage multiple assignments concurrently.
- Spend approximately one day each week in the field collecting data.
- Enter data into design systems and oversee work assigned to them.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve issues related to power distribution.
- Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor activities to achieve business objectives.
- Prepare thorough technical reports, correspondence, calculations, sketches, and documentation.
- Conduct engineering and related studies to support project needs.
- Continuously improve job-related technical knowledge, skills, and performance.
- Develop positive working relationships to coordinate and align work activities.
- Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
- Maintain accurate records and files for ongoing projects.
- Support the company’s goals and represent the organization professionally.
Requirements
- Technical Associate degree, or 2+ years of relevant power distribution experience.
- Proficient user of computer applications, particularly MS Office and AutoCAD.
- Experience in the utility industry.
- Understanding of project management principles.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently, team-oriented, and customer-focused.
- Able to manage multiple tasks and provide leadership to other team members.
