Job Description

Principal Software Engineer – Algorithm SW Engineer (26-300) for the C2BMC program, based in Huntsville, AL, on-site only with an active DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to software design artifacts, implement Java based changes, assist with design and code reviews, and support testing activities along with issue resolution from testing.
  • Present the developed designs to team members and stakeholders.
  • Engage in Agile planning and execution aligned with established C2BMC processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field with 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree with 3 years of relevant experience; or 9 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Current, active DoD Secret clearance valid at the time of application.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% for business needs.
  • Experience with full life-cycle software development.
  • Java application development experience.
  • Unix/Linux environment experience.
  • Software implementation of mathematical algorithms.
  • Proficiency with Agile development methodologies.
  • MATLAB experience.
  • DevSecOps practices experience.
  • Systems integration experience.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills to review system behavior, identify root causes, and propose solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams including Systems Engineering, Integration and Test, Deployment, and Warfighter Support to ensure mission success.

Position Overview

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications C2BMC program is a core element of the Missile Defense System. It enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commands to plan ballistic missile defense operations, monitor the battle, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapons to achieve global and regional mission goals.

Salary

Primary level salary range: $108,800 - $163,200 per year
