Project Engineer
Job Description
Flambeau Inc. seeks a Project Engineer who serves as the liaison between customers and internal teams to ensure cost, quality, delivery, and service meet expectations. This on-site role in Baraboo, Wisconsin guides programs across Design, Development, APQP, and overall program success.
Responsibilities
- Obtain information from manufacturing, quality, internal engineering, customer engineering, purchasing, and sales to prepare the optimal proposal for the customer.
- Perform all cost estimating during the development cycle and establish standards for each job, from material selection to process and production methods.
- Place all new tooling and fixture builds and manage all mechanical design tasks and tooling program management.
- Schedule all sample runs and provide support at every stage of the process.
- Communicate and document setup and processing information to molding technicians.
- Update routings and bill of materials to reflect engineering change requests.
- Oversee updates to engineering print files and revisions, and review standards to reduce manufacturing variances.
- Manage assigned programs and provide status reports on activities as directed.
- Provide proposals for annual continuous improvement and cost reduction opportunities.
- Disposition products for material review board sign-off and establish corrective actions as required.
- Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to establish standard processes that meet customer expectations and support ongoing production requirements.
- Establish quality plans for each part, including FMEAs, Control Plans, Work Instructions, Work Cell Layouts, and PPAPs, and lead cross-functional teams to obtain required documents.
- Pursue ongoing education and training related to tooling, machinery, materials, and processing to maintain a high level of expertise.
- Travel to customer and vendor locations or other Flambeau facilities as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Plastics or Mechanical Engineering is preferred; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Engineering Project Management experience is preferred.
- Background in Plastic Processing and Manufacturing is preferred.
- Working knowledge of injection and blow molding processes and materials.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Understanding of mold and fixture design, build, and construction.
- Ability to read engineering prints and support quality engineering with layouts and GD&T understanding.
