Project Manager/Engineer

AZ PolymersLLC is hiring an onsite Project Manager/Engineer in Gurnee, IL. This role supports engineering project delivery from scope through completion while helping strengthen day-to-day operations with training, maintenance routines, and a consistent Safety First approach. You will have the opportunity to lead medium to large projects, coordinate technical and field execution, and build plans that keep work on schedule and within budget.

Compensation: $70,000 to $100,000 per year

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain training programs to support correct operating procedures and effective corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance routines.
• Maintain a Safety First culture at all times by enforcing safety rules and safe work practices, with a focus on 5S.
• Plan, schedule, direct, and manage medium to large, typically more complex engineering projects from scope definition to award and through completion, including successful site management to meet contract requirements for timing and budget.
• Coordinate installation efforts, including preparing the project installation plan, implementing job procedures, and managing installation labor and subcontractors.
• Oversee project design engineering supervision and manage project schedules, subcontracts, change proposals, project invoices, and collections for assigned projects.
• Communicate project requirements, schedules, and change proposals with internal customers on a regular basis, maintaining accurate and up to date records of job status, job changes, material flow, and other control records needed for internal and external reporting.
• Coordinate procurement of materials, supplies, and services needed for timely and cost-effective project completion within budget.
• Establish project milestones, analyze costs, and adjust project plans and/or cost estimates to align with financial goals.
• Support TPM program development, training, and implementation (a plus) and promote precision maintenance using methods that may include vibration, infrared, ultrasound, motor circuit evaluation, and oil sampling.
• Create and assist with training programs for Maintenance personnel.
• Maintain flexibility to work on off-shifts for observation, analysis, and training.
• Delegate tasks to technical staff reports.
• Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field of study strongly preferred; suitable experience may substitute.
• Strong project management experience in a technical environment.
• Strong analytical skills to resolve problems and identify solutions, including solid conflict resolution skills.
• Team leadership, team building, and facilitation skills.
• Extensive engineering knowledge with a basic electrical background.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and share technical information with technical staff and/or management.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, downtime, or stoppage.
• Ability to understand and interpret technical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, layouts, and data sheets.
• CAD experience.
• Practical hands-on experience with plastics processes is a plus.
