Overview

Based in Fishers, Indiana, this onsite senior role at GAI Consultants Inc focuses on leading complex bridge projects. You will integrate engineering economics and risk analysis, coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, and deliver robust, cost‑effective solutions while navigating permitting and regulatory requirements and engaging with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply creativity, foresight, and mature judgment to anticipate and solve new problems.
  • Set priorities and reconcile directions from competing interests to move projects forward.
  • Lead projects with complex features, performing work directly or through others.
  • Incorporate engineering economics and risk analysis into solutions for complex engineering problems.
  • Integrate solutions across multiple specialty areas for cohesive outcomes.
  • Demonstrate leadership and contribute to the development of standards and guidelines.
  • Lead a project within your area of specialization in the practice.
  • Develop design alternatives for complex projects that consider realistic requirements, constraints, community input, permitting, and regulatory constraints.
  • Apply advanced concepts to solve intricate problems.
  • Oversee large or multi-discipline project teams.
  • Recommend personnel and funding required to carry out projects.
  • Manage technical, legal, and financial aspects of entire projects and synthesize them into a complete project management plan.
  • Define project objectives and requirements.
  • Work under administrative supervision with assignments framed around broad objectives and limits.
  • Implement staff development plans that strengthen technical, management, and leadership skills.
  • Communicate effectively, including negotiation of critical issues and persuasive presentations.
  • Demonstrate financial acumen and familiarity with legal issues related to engineering practice.
  • Initiate and maintain extensive contacts with key engineers, officials, and organizations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience: 16+ years of engineering experience.
  • Education: B.S. or M.S. in Engineering.
  • Licensure: Professional Engineer (P.E.) license with reciprocity in multiple states.
  • Driver’s License: Required.

Capabilities and Leadership

  • Develops and applies standards and guidelines on a regular basis.
  • Leads projects in their area of specialization and develops design alternatives for complex endeavors that account for community input, permitting, and regulatory constraints.
  • Integrates advanced concepts to resolve complex problems.

Project and Management Focus

  • Oversees large or multi-discipline project teams.
  • Recommends personnel and funding to execute projects.
  • Oversees technical, legal, and financial aspects of an entire project and integrates them into a comprehensive project management plan.
  • Determines project objectives and requirements.

Communication and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including negotiation of critical issues and persuasive communication.
  • Demonstrates financial acumen and familiarity with legal issues related to engineering practice.
  • Initiates and maintains extensive contacts with key engineers, officials, and external organizations and companies.
