Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement embedded software for innovative fitness equipment and connected platforms
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and features, integrating them into future product concepts
  • Develop proof-of-concept prototypes and partner with Product Management to refine and advance them
  • Help transition early concepts into production-ready software for new products
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, specifications, and design requirements
  • Troubleshoot complex software and hardware integration challenges
  • Collaborate with global engineering and manufacturing teams, including overseas partners
  • Mentor and support junior engineers across development initiatives
  • Contribute to intellectual property initiatives, product innovation, and technology advancements
  • Operate in a fast-moving environment that emphasizes continuous improvement and creative problem solving

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Experience with object-oriented languages such as C++, C#, or Java
  • Embedded software development experience using C and/or C++
  • Strong understanding of RTOS or bare-metal embedded systems
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript
  • Ability to read electronic schematics and component datasheets
  • Experience writing technical documentation and design specifications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and manufacturing teams
  • Willingness and ability to mentor less experienced engineers

Description

Johnson Health Tech develops advanced fitness technology and connected products used worldwide. The KT Innovation team brings ideas to life through embedded software development, rapid prototyping, hardware integration, and next-generation product concepts.

The Senior Embedded Software Engineer will help design and build technology that powers globally recognized fitness brands. You will collaborate with engineering, product, and manufacturing teams to move concepts from prototype to production in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

This role suits an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, mentoring peers, and driving innovation across both hardware and software platforms.

Additional Information

  • Onsite position at the Cottage Grove, WI headquarters
  • International travel may be required approximately 1–2 times per year
